Hi. I’m Crystal. Nice to meet you.

crystal ellefsenI like to ask a lot of questions and think a lot of thoughts.

I’m compulsively creative. I like to make art, solve problems and help people.

I’m determined and I know a thing or two about not giving up.

I’m on a journey to take responsibility for all the areas of my life that I want to change. In the process, I’m exploring the intersection of creativity and health. This includes everything from forgiveness to kombucha, grieving rituals to nutrition. I experiment. I probe. I podcast.

I have a rare and precious opportunity to make a fresh start with my life and I’m determined to make the most of it.

I recently decided it was time to burn the long list of reasons why I shouldn’t blog.  So, here I am letting go of the inner critic and writing my story.

I have a lot of ideas up my sleeve and I’d love to share them with you.

More assorted things about me…

crystal ellefsenI used to be the “single mom contributor” at The Art of Simple (previously known as Simple Mom). Then I got married to this amazing man, and now I still contribute to The Art of Simple, but without a specific category. It’s an honor to be able to write about meaningful things to an audience of thoughtful, kind folks who are striving to live with intention.

I went to USCB for undergrad and SDSU for an MFA in Creative Writing. I continue to write and publish poetry because I love it. And for the discipline and delight of writing and sharing words hat have been crafted and carved into something I’m proud of.

I also have a day job in the multifamily industry where I write and podcast about apartment marketing and more. For all those work-related projects, I publish and podcast under my previous name, Crystal Hadidian.

Also, I’ve been to Iceland. I lived in a van for a while while in college. I love Ethiopian food. I really like silence. And music. I’d love to section-hike the whole California part of the Pacific Crest Trail.I grew up in Austin, Texas but I’ve lived in California for 12 years now. I have a lot of books. I like to read them while listening to the birds in my backyard.
